Resident of the Month: Ed Haug

Published on

To say Ed Haug is smart would be an understatement. Walk into his apartment and you’ll find one of the best collections of history books around. Better yet, converse with him and you might just get to hear about his time in the Korean War, where he served as a spy in the Army’s counter intelligence unit.

After the war, he went back to school, and eventually became an engineer for the next 32 years. Coincidentally, he also met his wife, Patricia, around this time.

They first locked eyes while both were partaking in a folk dancing group in Detroit.

“I set a goal to dance with her, it took me six months to do that,” he told me, smiling.

Patricia, a journalist working for The American Journal of Retinology, Radiotherapy, & Nuclear Medicine at the time, turned out to be the perfect match for Ed. They soon married and later had three daughters together.

For the past six years, Ed’s made his home here at Shorepointe. Most often you can usually find him working on one of our many jigsaw puzzles, playing table tennis, or reading in his study.

Needless to say, we’re quite lucky to have him here - his grace, intelligence, and gentle spirit never fail to make us smile.
